Muckdogs Struggle Through Dog Days of Summer

Since being in first on July 22nd the Muckdogs have hit a snag in their quest to win the New York-Penn League. The Muckdogs are 5 and 10 since taking over first place from the Jamestown Jammers. The Pinckney Division is the most competitive in the NY-Penn League and since this skid the Muckdogs sit in 5th place, five and a half games out of first.

The Muckdogs had a huge series with the Staten Island Yankees which sawRochester’s own Cito Culver make a smashing homecoming. In his first game back in Rochester Cito hit his first two home runs of the year in a route of the ‘Dawgs 10 to 1. The second game of the series saw the Muckdogs bounce back and win a close one4 to 3. Cito went 1 for 3 with an RBI. In the final game of the series the Muckdogs blew a 6 run led in front of 2,445, the first sell out in years. This was the largest total attended three game series in Muckdogs history.

Since the Yankees series the Muckdogs are 3 and 6 and struggling to score runs. Scoring more then 3 runs only 3 times resulting in 2 wins.

The Muckdogs will be well represented at the All-Star game with 6 players making the team the most of any team in the NY-Penn league. Joey Bergman, David Medina, Juan Castillo, pitchers Jonathan Cornelius, Seth Maness, and Todd McInnis will represent the Muckdogs.

The Muckdogs have a doubleheader today with the Brooklyn Cyclones.

Did you know? Babe Ruth hit more home runs than 10 of the 15 other teams in Major League Baseball in 1921.
