Muckdogs in First!!

Since Superhero Night the Muckdogs have been a real force, winning 5 of 7, and moving into a three way tie for first place.

The Muckdogs finished the home stand vs. Tri-City with a 4 to 3 win in very crazy fashion. The Muckdogs gave up a 3 run lead in the top of the 9th only to score the game winning run in the bottom of the 9th on a botched squeeze play. With Garrett Wittels on third and David Medina at the plate, Wittels took off for home andMedina didn’t swing, leaving Wittels high and dry. During the pickle that ensued Wittels scored on a throwing error by ValleyCats third baseman Matthew Duffy.

Batavia then took 2 of 3 against the Auburn Doubledays. In the first game of the series Sean Watson picked up his first win for the Muckdogs and Danny Miranda picked up his 7th save as the Muckdogs won 4 to 2.  In the second game of the series the Muckdogs bats were hot as they had 15 hits and Nick Martini was the only starter without a hit. Casey Rasmus lead the Muckdogs with 3 hits, 2runs, and 2 RBIs. This lifted Rasmus average to .410 the highest on the team. The Muckdogs just missed the sweep losing 4 to 3. Ricky Martinez took the lost his 4th on the year.

The ‘Dawgs wouldn’t roll over for the first place Jammers as they ran a muck, scoring 10 runs in the opening game of a 4 game series. The Muckdogs sat just 1 game out of first when the series started and with an opening game win, they moved into a tie with Jamestown. Every starter on the Muckdogs scored in the opening game as they dominated in the 10 to 2 victory. In the second game of the series the Muckdogs continued their streak as the won 7 to 3. Jeremy Patton led a late charge with 3 hits, 2 runs, and 4 RBIs. Eric Binder picked up his 3rd win for the Muckdogs. Jamestown got revenge in the 3rd game of the series with a 4 to 2 win. Lead by the strong Pitching performance of Thomas Peale who went 5 innings giving up only 2 hits, 2 walks, while striking out 2.

The Muckdogs look to take 3 of 4 from the Jammers tonight with Postgame Fireworks.
