Muckdogs make it 6 straight then lose 2 to Spikes

Batavia finished the home sweep of State College on Friday in front of 1,336 broom wielding Muckdog fans. Fans got some early fireworks as the Muckdogs won on a walk-off double, the second walk off win during the win streak. The Muckdogs jumped all over converted cricketer fromIndia, Rinku Singh, who just couldn’t hit the wickets as he took the loss. David Medina was the hero as he hit a towering shot to deep center that was nearly caught by the State College center fielder. As it fell just out of his reach; Jeremy Patton scored the game winning run.  The Muckdogs used 4 different pitchers and Adam Bileckyj got the win as he pitched the last 3 innings giving up 1 hit and striking out 6.

It looked as if the Muckdogs were going to sweep State College in Pennsylvania as they crushed the Spikes 9 to 3 on Saturday. Cesar Valera led the Muckdogs with 2 hits, 1 run and 3 RBIs. A 7 run 6th inning for the Muckdogs proved too much for the Spikes. 5 pitchers for the Muckdogs were used as Andrew Benes took the win pitching 3 innings giving up 1 hit, 1 walk and striking out 4.

Sunday saw the sharp Spikes get revenge as they snapped Batavia’s 6 game win streak, 4 of which were against State College. In a seesaw game the Muckdogs came from behind to take the lead in the 7th, 7 to 6, only to surrender it for good in the bottom of the 8th8 to 7.  The Muckdogs used 5 pitchers and Danny Miranda blew his first save of the season to take the loss.

The Muckdogs appear to be allergic to cats as they lost to State College during “Purr in the Park”. The dander really kicked in during the 8th inning as the Muckdogs gave up the lead and 3 runs. The Spikes had a walk off of their own when Justin Bencsko took Ricky Martinez deep.
